It all started with a Catholic priest.
One of my friends came from the US to work as a Catholic priest in Denmark. He told me that I could sign up for Amazon’s affiliate program and promote the videos and books I bought there anyway.
Back in 1998, I had no idea this was even possible.
The Danes just weren’t ready to buy from the US, even though they could get newer movies and cheaper books.
After a while, I stopped sharing my affiliate links on my blog. I stopped writing about the movies I’ve loved and the books I’d read.
There weren’t many email programs available in 1998.
I’d struggled to find a good one. They were all okay, but nothing more.
Until I found a perfect match for me. Oh gosh, how I loved that email program (which I still use).
I told everyone I knew about it.
But made no money…
I don’t think anyone but Amazon had it back then.
But there more I talked people into getting the same program, the more my thoughts circled around this idea:
Wouldn’t it be nice to get paid for telling others about it?
I browsed through the programmer’s site again and found a reseller program. But oh, boy was that expensive.
We were about to move to France and we’d lost a lot of money (my former husband signed a dishonest contract), so I contacted the company and asked if I could become a reseller with a lower entry payment. They said Yes.
True. It’s only 8,431,08 on average per year. Or $702.59 per month.
Nobody can live with such a low income.
But I’m doing affiliate marketing perhaps 20% of the time. My main profit comes from the courses and books I write.
So, it’s a nice little extra that doesn’t take much time because I already know, love and use those products I promote.
It’s kind of a site hustle to my main business.
Of course you can.
I wasn’t born with an email list or knowledge about how to write good emails.
I had to learn it all, trial and error (lots of error).
Failure and success.
Is it worth it? You bet!
This is living life on my terms at its best.
