Have you ever been awake for way too long and think, “Oh my gosh! I need to get up early to work tomorrow?”
I have. I used to be a night owl, and I used to work for somebody else.
Last night when I turned my computer off at 1 am I thought back to those times.
Nefnef slept next to my bed.
She woke up, too, happy to see me get up. We went outside, then I fed both pets and finally sat down 10:45.
I immediately decided that today, I would only do a minimum of work.
That’s one of the super-powers of being your own boss.
For way too many years, I lived my life on other’s terms.
The bank’s, the authorities’, my former husband’s…
I felt that I had to work all the time.
Easy lifestyle back then.
Rinse and repeat, 7 days a week, 365+ days a year.
Today, I’m singing “No Work Today” on Herman’s Hermits’ melody.
Today, I’ve written 3 emails, replied to some Substack notes and comments, and now I’ve written this article.
After that, I’m done.
